Monthly Archives: June 2012

My friend Dolly at AllAboutLemon surpised me with another award and a special gift on Memorial Day weekend.

Thank you so much, Dolly!

And now I would like to mention a special lady I feel so much more worthy of this recognition.

Visit with Renee Robinson at Nae’s Nest. She is beautiful inside and out! Her life story is  inspirational. Her poetry and other writings, beautifully illustrated, are moving.

I met Charlie and friends in May on a drive through the remote Clay County, Indiana, countryside. Charlie’s the mule (in the center) without the jackass attitude. He was quite curious, allowing me time to get a couple of good photos. Big Dan the Clydesdale, on the other hand, was a real horse’s ass during the whole visit.

I learned their names when the rancher stepped out on his veranda (thankfully without his rifle) and yelled, “I charge a quarter a picture.”

Photo of the Week series: Every Sunday in 2012 I will either share a photo from my archives or something new I just can’t wait to get feedback on for future art shows/exhibits.

Blogger participation: My hope is to receive enough input on each week’s photo to later post a Bloggers’ Choice of the Month and wrap up 2012 with a Bloggers’ Choice of the Year.

:)

Another Father’s Day without my dad.

This is a sunrise taken from my back porch. The original is quite beautiful but the illustration best expresses my mood for today. I know Dad is in this beautiful place, but still, every morning without him … is hard.

Last of 5 posts: Photos taken while camping Memorial Day weekend in Horseshoe Lakes Preserve, one of many Thousand Trails/NACO campgrounds.

Our 290-acre home preserve in Vermillion County, Indiana, is named for its large horseshoe-shaped lake, surrounded by 10 smaller spring-fed lakes.  This is where I shot the dragonfly I use for my gravatar.

I originally set out to photograph these blooms but changed my focus when I spied these love bugs.

If you look closely, you will find one of the bugs contemplating the big leap! My focus is a little off but I did get in some practice trying to shoot from the ground up. Oh, well, practice makes perfect.
