This beauty with the black blotches and iridescent blue spots is a Giant Leopard Moth, also referred to as Eyed Tiger Moth. I found him outside the Publix grocery near the Thousand Trails Orlando Nature Preserve Campground and RV Resort. I captured him and took him back to our vacation cabin so I could take these photos.

    • Thanks, Rob. I found much sharper, clearer macro shots of this moth when I used Google to research. I was pleased with my photos since I only have the kit lens for my Nikon.

    • I was really close with just the kit lens (Nikon DX Nikkor 15-55mm).I think I used the A mode on the mode dial. Your “awesome” really makes my day. Thanks!

    • Thank you, Val. I was so thrilled to try out the new Nikon during this Orlando vacation and I am pleased with a lot of the 600 or so photos I took … but I still have LOTS to learn! :)
