I received this party favor at a recent holiday gathering and just had to share. :)

You have to glue a washer on the bottom of your ornament so it will stand up. Instead of gift cards you could just use place cards on your holiday table. Make sure to tell guests to pick them up by the ornament and not the card or the fragile glass ball will fall to the floor and shatter. :(

Photo of the Week series: Every Sunday in 2012 I have shared either a photo from my archives or something new I just couldn’t wait to get feedback on for future art shows/exhibits.

I appreciate your participation: I received enough input on each week’s photo to later post a Bloggers’ Choice of the Month.  Since there are 53 Sundays in this year I will use next Sunday to wrap up my Photo of the Month series.

My first post in 2013 will reveal the 2012 Photo of the Year.

Seasons Greetings: This Happy Holidays twirl started out as a Christmas wreath I purchased to hang on my front door.

Side view of Hogwarts

This is a side view of Hogwarts castle in Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando. Doubt that’s Harry Potter flying around up there on his Firebolt.

Flying with Harry Potter was the deciding factor when I asked my teenager to choose from Florida or North Carolina for our family vacation. This is a virtual ride so a fractured fibula didn’t keep me from enjoying it just as much as she did.

We were advised to stow our valuables in lockers before the ride so I’m still kicking myself in the butt for not taking a pocket camera. Also, my cell phone camera stinks so I don’t have inside photos to share.

We stood in line for almost two hours but this attraction is well worth the wait. We made our way through the classrooms and corridors of Hogwarts before soaring above the castle grounds with Harry and his friends.

The Harry Potter island of adventure also features Hogsmeade Village, Hogwarts Express,  the Frog Choir and two coaster attractions.

Poseidon’s Fury on The Lost Continent is one of many attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Again I took my Kodak so I could enjoy both amusement parks without fear of loss or breakage. And unfortunately, a fractured fibula limited my participation. So no quality inside perspective or thrilling outdoor shots. :(

This shot was difficult because I had to literally steady my camera on the ground and shoot up; needless to say it took many attempts while standing in the middle of the oncoming crowd. This is one of many times my Best Friend walked away pretending not to know me!! :-D

As you can see I did not take my photography seriously; it also rained on the second day so all in all this is a fine example of typical vacation photos suitable only for the family album.
