A closed flowerhead: One of the last of the sunflowers to bloom where it was planted in a garden in Clay County, Indiana.
My grandmother loved her trumpet honeysuckle for as long as I can remember. Her fence was loaded down with blooms every year, right next to the gate into her back yard. The farmhouse and fence are long gone but I can close my eyes and still smell the sweetness.
I found this one growing in a fence row along a country road on a recent Sunday drive after church.
