According to Wikimapia, former Brazil, Indiana Mayor Norval Pickett Jr. initiated the development of George Craig Park in 1977 in honor of the former Indiana Governor from Brazil from 1953 to 1957.

Craig Park contains more than 70 acres comprised of both the former waterworks department for the City of Brazil and 54 1/2 acres purchased with a grant from the United States Housing and Urban Development Department from Rhema Mae Bennett.
Today, Craig Park consists of two lakes available for bank fishing, two shelters, a mini-playground, an overland running track developed by Northview High School Cross Country Team, and more than 50 acres of potential development.

More recent is the addition of the Clay County Parent Bereavement Support Group memorial
