“Chihuly Glass Ceiling,” photography on aluminum, was awarded First Place in the Wabash Valley Art Guild’s 39th annual Spring Art Show in Clabber Girl Museum and Gallery in Terre Haute, Indiana.
I captured a sampling of the 1,700 Dale Chihuly blown glass creations covering the floating glass ceiling beneath his Fireworks of Glass Tower sculpture installation in The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Chihuly’s pieces were inspired by undersea plants and creatures, chandeliers, flowers, and other forms.
I was inspired by the sea of red, yellow, cobalt blue, lime, purple and orange shapes backlit by the summer sun shining through the Pergola Ceiling between the sculpture and the viewing room on the lower level.
Winners in all categories at the WVAG’s Spring Art Show can be viewed throughout May in The Gallery at Clabber Girl Museum.
